Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are usually to be treated as an ongoing improvement process, rather than "laid in stone" kind of attitude towards them. We believe in revising them least frequently and that is possible only when the processes are fine-tuned to the best efficiency and productivity over a few iterations of usage by target stake holders.
However, not changing the SOPs for sake of any other reasons, is sure sign inefficient, as least productive steps may be taking away valuable time, energy, morale and increasing costs due to least researched and studied processes. Also, if there is no feedback mechanism and clarification mechanism within the organization to debate or discuss SOPs and its work flows, it could lead to less engaged and less productive work force. When people understand that they can drive change and efficiency, the compliance and productivity will also increase along with increase in involvement and increased understanding.
New approach
PiCRC will implement the 2π+2π approach to get the optimal operationalized system put in place that will help in improving overall performance and create efficient workflows which self-feeds the improvement cycle while involving the subject matter experts (SMEs) and the work force, both equally involved in that specific process.
This principle helps get the work force to involve and contribute to self-assessed feedback as well as changes that they will drive and feel responsible for. The hierarchy need not spend its time in devising solutions but helping the workforce make the right choices, keeping the compliance and costs in focus. Hence, they also learn in the process both the hard and soft skills of managing the workflows and making them efficient with every iteration. The following illustration is indicative of our vision in helping in workflow optimization.
